What and Where is the Dark Web, anyway?

Monday, March 19th, 2018 @ 2:15 PM

Abstract: While security experts often refer to the “Dark Web,” many do not really know or understand where it is, what it is, how to access it, or its capabilities. Without this knowledge and understanding, it is much more difficult to know how to protect yourself, your business, your staff, and your family and friends from the nefarious activities that occur on the Dark Web.

This session will explain where the Dark Web exists, how to access it, and what goes on there. The legalities that surround its use will be discussed from both the criminal viewpoint as well as that of law enforcement.

Attendees will learn:

  • Does the Dark Web really exist? How do you access it?
  • How is anonymity assured for those using the Dark Web?
  • Why doesn’t law enforcement just shut it down?
  • What is TOR?
  • The difference between the Dark Web and the Deep Web
